Ermine

Leonardo Da Vinci

The Lady with an Ermine (1485).

It is my favourite painting, rather subversive. The ermine, whose fur had traditionally been used to shape cloaks and other garments for kings, is alive and strong, like values that we treasure and respect.

MODERATION: the ermine out of moderation never eats but once a day, and it would rather let itself be captured by hunters than take refuge in a dirty lair,in order not to stain its purity.

(from Leonardo´s Bestiary)
